FDA says that consumer N95 masks are called for in this sort of situation:

In May 2007, FDA cleared for marketing two respirators that can help reduce a person's exposure to airborne germs during a public health medical emergency. Such an emergency can range from a worldwide outbreak (pandemic) of influenza, to a biological terrorist threat such as anthrax.

The two respirators, manufactured by St. Paul, Minn.-based 3M Company (and called the 3M Respirator 8612F and 8670F), will be available to the general public without a prescription.

:Some experts thing that swine flu has "peaked" in [[mexico]]. This means that it is slowing down, and fewer people will catch it. Eventually it will die out accross the world, and people will stop catching it. If these experts are right, this might go away in a couple of weeks.<br>There are around 1000 people in the entire world who have been confirmed to have this flu, which is still a very small number. So long as you don't meet one of these people AND catch their infection, then you are absolutely fine.<br>However, it is worth taking some extra precautions (washing your hands regularly, using disinfectant spray). I live in hyde parky which is in New york but no one has it(Im not saying "Yet" cuase that souund like it will) but we are very clean about our town and its not that close its pretty far also movie cinemas,hospitals,and stores are being very tidy so i guess i was over reacting i was about to carve "ALL ARE DEAD." on the wall i have asburgers syndrome so i over react and my mom says its levling out around the us so thanks for helping me-[[Special:Contributions/69.118.78.130|69.118.78.130]] 19:01, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
