(First few paragraphs were on Robin's talk page, hard to find.)

Hi Robin. Do you think it's useful to activate the Google maps extension for the flu wiki? --Avatar@fandom 10:17, 29 April 2009 (UTC)

Sorry to butt in. Looks like a pretty useful extension. Is there any way we can automatically load the map from here without re-adding the points or just taking screenshots? Gboyers talk 11:19, 29 April 2009 (UTC)
Sad but true I don't think this is easily possible. The extension is somewhat limited :-( --Avatar@fandom 11:47, 29 April 2009 (UTC)
I've seen it working on some Wikia sites (e.g. Genealogy) but I've never been involved with setting it up or studying how it works. Why not use the help desk in case someone knows more about it? — Robin Patterson (Talk) 12:34, 29 April 2009 (UTC)
Oh, actually I *can* set it up by myself ;). Just wanted to ask you if you think it would be useful to have it. --Avatar@fandom 12:49, 29 April 2009 (UTC)
I'm sure it could be useful in good hands, but I won't start planning ways in which I might use it. Have a go! — Robin Patterson (Talk) 12:59, 29 April 2009 (UTC)

Starting to use itEdit

Added a sample map to Germany. --Avatar@fandom 13:25, 29 April 2009 (UTC)
Added a similar map for United Kingdom, thanks for code!RichardRothwell 20:03, 29 April 2009 (UTC)

Actually it works to include the map directly from this source - but it seems to be flawed. You can copy the RSS link and paste it to the extension or the "View in Google Earth" link. But both don't seem to show all markers?? :-( See User:Avatar/maptest as example. --Avatar@fandom 09:42, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
