This can be a general discussion page for the wiki! However, any matter concerning only one page should be discussed on that page's talk/discussion page, and matters involving one aspect of the site could be best on the Watercooler.

IRC Edit

I'm on IRC a lot, and having a place to discuss the wiki (and the subject of the wiki) in real-time is nice. If anyone wants to join me, i'll be in irc://freenode/FluWiki

Regional news Edit

I propose that the regional sections have a news section which is in reverse chronological order, with earlier items generally left unchanged. My logic is that this will offer a clear indication of the current state of affairs, while keeping a record of what people thought was going on. A separate document ought to be constructed showing the truth as it emerges. RichardRothwell 19:27, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

There definitely needs to be ONE page (ideally a map) which shows the spread of this outbreak across the globe. From here users should be able to go down to individual countries etc. A news section (like UK) on each country/continent page is definitely a good idea too. A central News page would also be good to show on the main page. Gboyers talk 19:48, 27 April 2009 (UTC)
We have or had a world map with pins. I used it as the main image on my Squidoo lens. But it's not updatable, as far as I know. — Robin Patterson (Talk) 01:00, 28 April 2009 (UTC)
This image is just a screenshot of this Google map. I'm just intending to take a new screenshot and re-upload this every day. I'm also going to take more detailed screenshots of individual continents. Gboyers talk 01:14, 28 April 2009 (UTC)
I've asked the people at healthmap.org to let us now if we can incorporate just the map on one of our pages - with suitable credit of course. Rather depends on their licence I guess. RichardRothwell 13:08, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

Bot FlagEdit

Just to inform that the bot flag has been applied for User:Wikia, which is only used for the automatic welcome messages when someone joins the wiki. This will hide the edits from Special:RecentChanges, but this only applies to that user's edits from today onwards (previous edits are still visible as normal). If you want to be able to see these, just click "show bots" on Recent Changes, or look at that user's contributions. Gboyers talk 17:56, 29 April 2009 (UTC)
