Canada is the most northerly country in North America, adjoining the United States on its south and west borders.
As of April 30, 2009 there have been 19 confirmed cases of Swine Flu confirmed in Canada, four in Ontario, two in Alberta, four in Nova Scotia, and three in British Columbia[1]. All victims had only mild symptoms and had either recently traveled to Mexico or been in contact with someone who had.[2]
Key laboratory[]
The National Microbiology Laboratory in Winnipeg, an agency of the Public Health Agency of Canada, is one of the two laboratories capable of identifying the Swine Flu virus. The laboratory has been processing samples received from Mexico and has confirmed that the virus is related to Swine Flu.[3]
